"..... When he had a truck his monthly gas bill averaged $450.....

Do you drive a large gas guzzling vehicle? Do you use green cleaning products? Do you recycle, and use energy efficient light bulbs? There are so many simple steps you can take to help preserve earth's ecosystem. A friend of mine was driving a large Chevy pick up truck and probably got around 15 miles a gallon if he was lucky. He decided to go shopping for a new vehicle, something more fuel efficient. He is a licensed REALTOR and drives at least 2000 miles a month. When he had a truck his monthly gas bill averaged $450. He promised himself he would never drive a Toyota Prius or Honda Civic, but he wanted something with better fuel economy. He went to a Toyota dealership and test drove a few of their cars. The Prius caught his eye, it looked a little “dorky,” but 50-61 miles per gallon is amazing. Before he drove the Prius he had to test drive the Camry sport which is a very nice car. Then he got into the Prius and expected it to drive more like a golf cart than a vehicle. He pulled onto an access road of a major highway in Austin, and saw an on ramp that was on an extreme incline. He pushed the gas pedal to the floor and was overwhelmed by the pick up that the car had. It went from 0-60 much faster than ever expected. He then started playing with its onboard touch screen command center. The command center controls the air conditioning, radio, display settings, and it has a program that tells you your average miles per gallon. It also tells you when your running on battery, or gas, or when your charging the batteries. He was quite impressed with the Prius to say the least. He went back to the Camry with its MPG's in the 30's then looked at the Prius with its MPG's in the 50-60's. He bought the Prius, his gas bill now averages around $100 a month and can drive 500 miles on a 12 gallon gas tank. h also replaced all light bulbs in his house with energy efficient bulbs, and threw away all of the chemical cleaners and bought green products. Now when he goes to other people's homes they smell like chemicals. When something's clean it should not have a smell, if it's clean it should be fairly odorless. He recycles all the paper we can (which is a ton since he is a REALTOR) and he saves glass and aluminum and takes them to a local recycling place. It really doesn't take that much effort either, and it improves your quality of life. Every decision we make we must think how it will effect our people seven generations from now. So what we do now can either create or destroy the world of the future and for the people living then we should be considerate now. Those people will be your descendants. Remember that!
